Terraformars - [Hiroshi Hamasaki] - [2014]










The anime will premiere on September 26 at 24:30 (effectively, September 27 at 12:30 a.m.) and Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs.
The story of the original manga begins in the year 2577, hundreds of years after scientists sent cockroaches and mold to terraform Mars. However, when the first manned ships land on Mars, they encounter large humanoid cockroaches with great strength, and are wiped out. Humanity then sends elite warriors to Mars to eliminate the cockroaches.
Based on the manga series written by Yū Sasuga and illustrated by Kenichi Tachibana,Terra Formars makes its anime debut as a startling work of science fiction and adventure. With Earth becoming increasingly overpopulated, an ambitious plan has been put into place to terraform Mars using mold and cockroaches. Nearly 500 years after the plan, a mission to Mars, Annex 1, is under way to accomplish crucial research into the Virus currently plaguing mankind with the crew members who've been injected with various DNA of life on Earth in order to combat the Terra Formars, giant humanoid cockroaches.

Plot Summary:

Twenty years ago, Shokichi Komachi was part of the Bugs 2 mission to Mars that discovered Terra Formars, human-cockroach hybrids that resulted from a terraforming accident. Shokichi was one of only two survivors. Now, the AE virus that came from Mars is raging wildly on earth. Shokichi boards the spacecraft Annex 1 to go back to Mars to find a sample in order to create a vaccine. They will face an unanticipated accident, a multinational conspiracy, and even more advanced Terra Formars.

Terra Formars è ambientato nell'anno 2599. La Terraformazione di Marte è nella sua fase finale: un gruppo di astronauti è in missione sul quarto pianeta del sistema solare, alle loro spalle una casa distante milioni di chilometri, di fronte una mostruosa figura aliena... Il corpo colossale e possente dell’essere è del nero delle profondità dello spazio. Gli occhi indifferenti scrutano l’uomo con penosa curiosità. E’ il primo contatto tra due diverse forme di vita, ed è spaventoso. Un movimento fulmineo della creatura e la testa dell'esploratore assume una posizione impossibile e mortale. Per i quindici arrivati la verità è sconcertante. In un pianeta lontano, una disperata lotta per la sopravvivenza contro qualcosa di ben più vicino di quanto possa sembrare, li attende...

La serie anime, prodotta da Shueisha e Warner Bros Japan e animata dalla LIDEN FILMS (New Initial D – The Movie, Aiura, Terra Formars OAD), è scritta da Shogo Yasukawa (Hyperdimension Neptunia, Invaders of the Rokujyoma!?) e diretta da Hiroshi Hamasaki (Shigurui, Texhnolyze, Steins;Gate) con la collaborazione di Takaharu Ozaki (direttore della fotografia in Highlander: The Search for Vengeance). Alla caratterizzazione grafica dei personaggi troviamo Masanori Shino (character designer in Aoi bungaku Series – No Longer Human, Black Lagoon, Iron Man: Rise of Technovore, Shigurui) coadiuvato da Satoshi Kimura (animatore chiave in Fairy Tail, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, King of Thorn); alle musiche Shusei Murai (Silver Spoon, Supernatural: The Animation, Mai Mai Miracle). “Amazing Break” e “Lightning the World” dei misteriosi TERRASPEX, in uscita in Giappone a novembre, sonoi singoli che rispettivamente apriranno e chiuderanno gli episodi.
L'anime televisivo adatterà il manga partendo dal secondo volume, ovvero dalle vicende dell'equipaggio della Annex1, mentre il prologo raccontato nel primo volume, ambientato vent'anni prima a bordo della navetta Bugs2 in esplorazione marziana, è ripresa dai due OAV allegati alle edizioni speciali dei tankobon 10 e 11.
