Goro Miyazaki (Tales from Earthsea, From Up On Poppy Hill) will direct a television anime adaptation of Swedish author Astrid Lindgren's Ronia the Robber's Daughter (Ronja Rövardotter) children's fantasy book. The series, titled Sanzoku no Musume Ronia in Japan, will air on NHK and BS Premium this fall. POLYGON PICTURES (Knights of Sidonia, The Sky Crawlers) is animating the 3D CG series in collaboration withStudio Ghibli. The show will mark the first time that Miyazaki is directing a television anime series.
Miyazaki said of the series "Ronia the Robber's Daughter is a story not just about a girl who grows into adulthood, but it is also a story about the love and growth between a parent and a child, and a story about the bonds between friends. My goal is to create a work that everyone, from children to adults, will be able to enjoy."
The story revolves around Ronia, the only daughter of Mattis, the chief of a tribe of bandits who live in a large castle in a forest. Ronia studies the ways of the mysterious creatures who live in the forest.
Hiroyuki Kawasaki (The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Sorcerer Hunters, Ryoko's Case File, Psychic Detective Yakumo) is handling the series composition. NHK Enterprise is producing the series, and NHK and Dwango are handling production and writing.
Lindgren's (1907-2002) most well known work is her book series Pippi Longstocking. She has also written the Karlsson-on-the-Roof and Children of Noisy Village book series.

Nel cast troviamo: Haruka Shiraishi – Ronja; Atsuki Tani – Borka; Fukiko Endō – Narrator; Keiji Himeno- Lill-Klippen; Kenji Sugimura – Sturkas; Mika Doi – Undis; Reika Uyama – Birk; Rintarou Nishi – Tjegge; Saori Kato – Harpy; Shoichiro Akaboshi – Fjosok; Takaaki Seki – Mattis; Takahiro Shimada – Knotas; Takeo Ogawa – Tjorm; Umeji Sasaki - Skalle-Per; Yukari Nozawa – Lovis; Yuusuke Tezuka – Pelje.

Ronja (Ronia the Robber's Daughter nell'edizione in lingua inglese) è pubblicato in Italia da Mondadori.

John Alan Lasseter (born January 12, 1957) is an American animator, film director, screenwriter, producer and the chief creative officer at Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and DisneyToon Studios. He is also currently the Principal Creative Advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering.[2]
Lasseter began his career as an animator with The Walt Disney Company. Fired from Disney for promoting computer animation, he joined Lucasfilm, where he worked on the then-groundbreaking use of CGI animation.
(Steve Jobs a John Lasseter)

The Ghibli Museum Interview with Yuri Norstein

Goro Miyazaki interviewing Yuri Norstein on the Ghibli Museum.

Visually stunning, rich, the images created by Norstein sway between fable and poetry, suspended in another dimension, petite, minimalist. Absolute master of the depth of field, able to move between medieval icons and avant-garde painters, Norstein takes us through the fog, in the past and in the subconscious, drawing and cutting out worlds and unforgettable characters. A little 'Tarkovsky, a little' Chagall, the Russian director has dedicated his life to the creation of painstaking and very dense animated works. Honored by Studio Ghibli (with a video interview conducted at the Ghibli Museum), is an invaluable reference point for Miyazaki, Takahata and generations of animators.

Excluding the fragment produced the feature film Winter Days (Fuyu no hi, 2003) of Kihachiro Kawamoto, Norstein has worked since 1981 to feature Shinyel, based on Gogol.
