009 Re:Cyborg is a 2012 Japanese anime film by Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell, Eden of the East). The film takes place in Cyborg 009's future timeline.
Nine regular humans from different parts of the world are abducted and transformed into cyborgs with astounding powers for the purpose of being used as weapons. The nine cyborgs rebel and start to fight against their creators in the name of justice and world peace. Decades later, the nine cyborgs seem to be untouched by time, but they live in a world where "justice" has as many nuances as the number of people living on the planet. What is their place in the world now?

But those who dwelt upon the land, through vanity, cunning and greed, attempted to build a multitude of towers whose tops reached unto heaven, and accumulated great wealth on earth. So He gave unto man an opportunity to atone for his misdeeds; and flame and smoke and the roar of a lion descended upon earth; and shattered the many towers to dust...."
A 3DCG movie produced by Production I.G., Sanzigen and Ishimori Productions, was released on October 27, 2012. Kenji Kamiyama is the director and writer. Kenji Kawai, who has worked before with Kamiyama on Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit and Eden of the East, is composing the music. The film was released in Japan on October 27, 2012. It will also open simultaneously in more than five Asian regions, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea.[1] A manga adaptation by Gatou Asou, character designer for Moribito and Occult Academy, is currently being serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan.[2] The UK anime distributor Anime Limited has announced tha they have acquired the movie and will produce an English dub at NYAV Post.[3] Madman Entertainment also has rights to release the film in Australia and New Zealand.[4] At Anime Expo 2013, Funimation had announced that they acquired the film for North America.[5]
